Fully Invested

FYI - For 2011, Dow up, Dogs of the Dow up more (double digits)

Being fully invested means that all assets of a trading account are working in the market with no cash reserve in the account. An investor or fund manager who is fully invested is demonstrating considerable confidence about the direction and the strength of the market. An investor who has margined (borrowed) funds invested can be more than fully invested in the market. An investor who is fully invested or more than fully invested in the market runs the risk of severe financial loss if the market does not perform as expected, although stop-loss orders and other precautions can minimize risk even for an investor who is more than fully invested. Some investors gauge the average stock allocation of the average individual investor's portfolio and will consider the market overly optimistic when the average investor's portfolio approaches fully invested.
