The Russell Top 50 Index is an a large cap index derived from the Russell 3000 Index. The Russell Top 50 Index represents the largest 50 companies included in the Russell 3000 Index. The Russell Top 50 Index is a market capitalization index measuring the performance of the largest stocks driving the US economy. Although the Russell Top 50 Index only includes 50 of the 3000 stocks included in the Russell 3000 Index, the Russell Top 50 Index accounts for about 40% of the entire Russell 3000 Index market capitalization. As a result, the Russell Top 50 Index is often seen as a reasonable benchmark for the evaluation of the largest stocks of the US stock market. The Russell Top 50 Index is reconstructed every year at the end of June as part of the Russell 3000 Index reconstitution. The Russell Top 50 Index is published by the Frank Russell Company.
