A tax return is the form or set of forms on which American citizens and businesses report their annual income when filing their state or federal taxes. Gross income, adjusted gross income, deductions, capital gain or capital loss on investments, interest and dividend payments, distributions, tax credits, and taxes owed or refund due are among the figures listed on a tax return. Form 1040, 1040A, and 1040EZ are the tax return forms most commonly used by individuals. Form 1120 and 1120A are the federal tax return forms used by conventional corporations, form 1120S is the tax return form used by S corporations, form 1065 is the tax return form used for partnerships, and form 706 is the tax return form used for estates. States have tax return forms with similar designations. Officially, all tax return forms for the tax year just concluded have to be filed by April 15th, but tax return forms such as form 4868 and form 7004 enable taxpayers to receive a filing extension of up to six months. However, taxpayers who receive an extension on filing their tax return still have to pay interest on the amount owed.
